Thomas Lewis started working for Blues when he was 17 years old and within 5 years he has worked his way into our Head Office as Contract Manager. Being the youngest employee in the office, he brings a fresh and enthusiastic attitude when assisting the Directors in managing the sites.
The success story started at the Sparks Competition in 2017, where he successfully got through to the first regional heats held at Pencoed College taking him straight to the finals in Bracknell, bringing home the prize of 3rd place.
As a result of this phenomenal start in his first year of college, he was entered into the Welsh Regional heats for the SkillElectric Competition. He made it through to the finals in the NEC Birmingham alongside his brother Connor and Tom Seward, who have also both completed apprenticeships with Blues.
This event enabled Thomas to be put forward for selection into the Squad UK, which combined the 5 best electricians in the UK competing for the chance to represent the UK in Euroskills, Budapest. Thomas went from strength to strength as he came 1st in the Squad UK allowing him to represent Team UK in the EuroSkills 2018 in Budapest.
Thomas was placed 8th in the EuroSkills putting him in in line to be selected for the WorldSkills event. At each level, the training would get harder but Thomas only got better getting him into the final team where only one electrician would carry onto the next stage. This squad selection consisted of representatives coming over from Russia and Norway to participate against the UK finals over a 5 day competition. Thomas proudly came 1st and what an achievement he received to represent his country in the WorldSkills 2019 in Kazan, Russia.
We are extremely proud of what Thomas has accomplished in the short space of time he has been in this industry and bringing home 12th place with a Medallion of Excellence in the Worldskills 2019 is a great way to end that chapter in his life, ready to start the new one as Contract Manager for Blues Electrical.
